Engagement
• The position is for the Orthopaedics Registrars
• Located in the Wellington Central Region
• Permanent Full-time engagement
• Provides secondary and tertiary surgical services
Essential Criteria
• Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who will be PGY3/F3 or above by the role commencement date
• You must have eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
• You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ
• Excellent written communication skills
• Current practicing certificate
• Update knowledge on treatments and medical practices
• Knowledge on medical ethics and law
• Relevant training and specialist experience

About the Hospital
This is a well-established public hospital which, provides Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service; and local, regional, and national health services; neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care and community-based services including district nursing, rehabilitation services, social work, alcohol and drug services, and home support services. You will have the opportunity to rotate across their three public hospitals’ and includes the possibility of rural attachments without having to leave the region.
Your responsibilities include assess elective patients before surgery, and discuss their management with a consultant; perform or assist with acute surgery depending on level of experience; and attend planned theatre sessions and conduct such surgical procedures as approved/supervised by the consultant. Also, provides the duties of complete daily examination of inpatients for who responsible, ensuring their appropriate management; supervise the house surgeon in the management of patients.
