The Regional Cancer and Blood Service at Medical Hospital welcomes you to come and work in a friendly, fun and vibrant team. We are looking for highly motivated, hardworking nurses with high energy levels and a good sense of humour to join our supportive team in Ward 64. Ward 64 provides inpatient medical and radiation oncology, and palliative care. We are part of the largest Regional Cancer Service in New Zealand and are proud to be ‘growing’ cancer nurses for New Zealand. Our commitment is to provide the best standards of personalised care possible to our patients and their families/whanau.
We provide 24 hour care for a wide range of cancers and treatment-related issues including:
• Management of oncological emergencies such as febrile neutropenia and spinal cord compression
• Administer inpatient chemotherapy
• Management of chemo- and immunotherapy related side effects
• Intraspinal analgesia
• Inpatient radiotherapy
• Palliative care
We are looking for highly motivated, hardworking nurses with high energy levels and a good sense of humour to join our team. You will have high clinical standards with an emphasis on the delivery of evidence-based care. You will embrace continuous quality improvement and have a passion for cancer nursing. You will have good clinical assessment skllls and knowledge, be a critical thinker and be able to communicate clearly with members of the multidisciplinary team. Your personal values will align to those of the organisation to ensure you are a good fit for our team.
Ideally, you will come from an oncology, haematology or medical nursing background and must have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate nursing experience in an acute care hospital.
