A well-established public hospital is looking for an experienced and hardworking Registered Mental Health Psychologist to support the mental healthcare service it provides. The public hospital focuses on Mori and Pacific Peoples, which provides services such as neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care & community-based services including district nursing, rehabilitation services, social work, alcohol & drug services, and home support services.
As the Mental Health Psychologist, you have to entail providing initial assessments and therapeutic interventions to enable positive outcomes for infants, children and adolescents presenting with moderate to severe mental health needs. You have to identify and diagnose psychological, emotional and behavioral issues of the patients while developing and implementing treatment plans. As the Mental Health Psychologist, you have to undertake "choice appointment" initial assessments, therapeutic interventions, and duty work for urgent/crisis teamwork working with other teams when required.
Eligibility Criteria
- Being a Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse, or Psychologist
- Experience working in infant, child & youth mental health (Age 0-18)
- Experience of working as a registered professional in a mental health service
- Registration under the clinical scope of practice/general scope with the NZ Psychologists Board
- Postgraduate qualifications of Mental Health Psychology
- Valid annual practicing certificate
- Proficient with psychological therapies, risk assessment, training, planning & performing psychological interventions
- The ability to make safe judgments
- New Zealand driving license
- Excellent communication skills, Computer skills & psychological report writing
- Update knowledge on treatments and medical practices
- Knowledge of medical ethics and law
- Excellent case management skills
