With over 115,000 adult and paediatric patients per year, our Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Australasia. We are situated in a lower socio-economic area and serve a high need population with high acuity presentations. We also provide secondary and tertiary care to patients from around the country and the Pacific Islands.
We see around 28,000 children per year and have a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department which is co-located with our Adult Department. Children and adolescents (under 18) are triaged to this department and we have dedicated resuscitation areas, procedure rooms, short stay area and assessment areas. We provide inpatient admissions for Paediatric Medicine, paediatric orthopaedics and short stay ICU patients. Our Emergency Department has been accredited for 6 months paediatric emergency medicine training by the Joint ACEM/ RACP training committee.
Eligibility Criteria
- You should be either registered or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Otahuhu is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand – 13 kilometres to the southeast of the CBD, on a narrow isthmus between an arm of the Manukau Harbour to the west and the Tamaki River estuary to the east.
