Essential Criteria
• Registration with NZ Medical Council (clinical scope)
• Minimum 02 years’ experience
• Current annual practicing certificate
• Current valid NZ driving license

About the Hospital
You will be working in the 15-bed inpatient assessment unit, which strives to protect the health, prevent disease, mental health facilities, memory service, rehabilitation services, community mental health care, and promote wellbeing for the people and environment of Waikato. The public hospital plans, fund and provide health and disability support services through over five different hospitals across the district including a tertiary, secondary, and three rural hospitals.
You will be required to participate in an on-call roster with elective and acute work at Waikato Hospital and peripheral sites. You will assist with surgery in the operation theatre; assess the surgical patients on arrival at Emergency; do a clinical assessment of the patient on admission and to record it clearly in the patients’ medical records, and give appropriate instructions for the preparation of patients pre-operatively. As a General Surgical Registrar, you will work alongside skilled and supportive general surgical, colorectal, upper GI, breast and oncoplastic, melanoma, endocrine and laparoscopic surgeons and have the opportunity to learn and undertake endoscopy and minor procedure plastics and skin lesion removals.
