Engagement

• Part-time engagement
• For a fixed term to cover for sabbatical leave
Essential Criteria
• Vocationally registered in general medicine (internal medicine) with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• FRACP or equivalent qualification (MRCP) and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
• Extensive experience in relevant clinical settings
• Interest on acute inpatient care to adult patients
• Excellent written communication skills
• Current practicing certificate
• Update knowledge on treatments and medical practices
• Knowledge of medical ethics and law

About the Hospital
This is a well-established public hospital which, provides Mental Health, Addiction, and Intellectual Disability Service; and local, regional, and national health services; neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care and community-based services including district nursing, rehabilitation services, social work, alcohol and drug services, and home support services.
The physician will provide consulting services and leadership for the medical team to facilitate the provision of appropriate high-quality service to the patients that come under his/her care and commits to maintaining a collaborative and collegial professional environment. Your responsibilities include participating in the after-hours roster; participate in routine departmental activities of both services, including service meetings, and teaching; and expected to encourage innovation and quality in the development of services. Physicians examine patients; take medical histories; prescribe medications; and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. These are team roles suited to applicants with an eye for detail and friendly, no-fuss style and a pro-active approach to work.
