About the Hospital
We provide approximately 32,000 anaesthetic episodes per year for all surgical services, except cardio-thoracics and neurosurgery, for adult and paediatric patients as well as a busy obstetric service. Our Hospital has one of the busiest acute surgical units in Australasia, requiring specialist cover on-site in the evenings and weekends to support 7 fellows and 25 anaesthesia trainees.

The Role
- To provide specialist clinical anaesthetic consultancy/professional support to the acute and elective services at our hospital.
- To provide clinical consultation with those patients identified as requiring specialist assessment and management.
- To promote best practice management of anaesthesia by providing safe and efficient anaesthesia services.
- To review, develop and implement professional medical standards of anaesthesia practice and competence in the inpatient and outpatient settings at our hospital.
- To deliver on the service’s required outcomes through active engagement in the clinical partnership model with the Clinical Head.
- To ensure that care is provided to patients through a coordinated continuum of care.
Eligibility Criteria
- Post Graduate qualification or experience appropriate to achieving vocational registration as a Specialist Anaesthetist with the MCNZ
- Previous experience in areas of anaesthesia.
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
- Previous experience in areas of anaesthesia relevant to the CM Health service requirements.
Location
South Auckland is an imprecisely defined urban area of Auckland, New Zealand, with a young population, a relatively large Polynesian and Mori demographics, and lower incomes than other parts of Auckland.
